My Favourite Story - The chickenDALE (part 1)

I would like to share with you my favourite bedtime story.

The story goes like this:

Once upon a time, there was a crazyDALE whose name we will not mention.

She used to FLY down these slippery wooden stairs whenever she hears someone at the door.

There were times when she would slip and miss a few steps at a time and hit the wall, then bounce off the wall down few more steps, then bounce off the other wall, and miss a few more steps until she gets to the bottom. If you have played one of those pinball machines, you would know what I'm talking about.

The crazyDALE's caretaker got very worried because the crazyDALE had a bad leg. She worried the crazyDALE might hurt herself. So the caretaker started blocking off the entrance to the stair way once the crazyDALE was upstairs. By doing so, every time the crazyDALE needed to go downstairs, she would be accompanied by her caretaker.

As time went on, the crazyDALE disappeared, and a new hybrid emerged.......

MEET,

The chickenDALE whose name we will again not mention has somehow convinced herself that the only way to get down these stairs is for all 64 lbs of meat to be in the arms of her caretaker. Otherwise, she makes those sounds that chickens make when they're being slaughtered......

Sometimes, the chickenDALE does give it a good try to go down those scaaaaawie stairs....

Unfortunately, her caretaker always ends up having to carry her down.

What's really interesting is that the chickenDALE is only chicken with the stair way that goes from the first floor to the second floor, and she never has problems going "up". She is also completely fine going down the stairs from the first floor to the basement. The surface material is completely the same with the two stairways.

I personally think the chickenDALE has a mental block. Since her caretaker never had to block the stairway down to the basement or carry her down those stairs, the thought of her not being able to do those stairs never came across her mind. Same thing with going "up" the stairs with both stairways. It's only going down from the second floor to the first floor that the chickenDALE has a problem with because that's when the stairway was blocked and she had to be helped down. I guess this is the reason why those hoomans say dogs are very specific animals??

Anyway, this is my favourite story because it makes me feel good. I mean, a SuperDALE like me would never make noises like THAT!! I know that chickeDALE looks like me, and I don't know why the crazy lady was calling her my name, but I can assure you that, it was NOT me you saw in the videos!! BELIEVE ME!

LAST NOTE: yea yea me again, just come sign up ok?? I'm being nice today....

few months ago, i was just like the chickenDALE that scaaaawie of the scaaaawie stairs! but i have grown a little taller and managed to climb the stairs in the park.

i think you should teach the chickenDALE to climb THAT stairs coz a 64lbs even though chicken but still a DALE is not good for the caretaker's back!

  4. Good evening.
It is ..story.. interesting of the stairs.
It is understood to fear it somehow.
I am not good at a high place either.
Especially, if there are scary memories in the place.

  7. I make my mom carry me up the stairs if I'm tired, but going down steps is easy. Those first to second floor wooden steps in that house look kind of scary because there are so many of them. Chickendale's caretaker must be really strong and steady to carry the dog down all those steps every time. That was a good story.

Be brave Sunshade! I know you can do it. When I grow up I want to be JUST LIKE YOU! I get scared sometimes when I am up on my mom's bed that I don't want to jump down. Sometimes she has to help me, too. Just tell your mom to be careful so she doesn't get hurt!

  15. I went nuts when Mama opened up your video. I felt so helpless that you were crying and I could not help you.
Your Mama has a nice soothing voice unlike my Mama. She can be irritating.
    Nice but, irritating

So what happen to poor chickenDALE? Did a handsome prince come save her? Will chickenDALE live happily ever after with her caretaker??

  18. You're very smart, Sunshade! My own nemesis is the "baby gate" - I know I'm not supposed to go past it, so I don't even try any more...

Maybe if the chickenDALE's caretaker puts yummy treats on the steps, it'll signal that it's ok to go down them now.

  19. OK guys, since you all seemed to want a sequal to this ChickenDALE story, I'm gonna see if I can contact the chickenDALE herself and have her come over for me to film.

    I just said I'd try, I didn't promise anything..

    Love nibbles to all,
    Miss Sunshade

  20. Sunshade! I played the 2 online videos and my momma's ears perked up and she came running to check out what the chatter was all about!

Do you think you'd, ahem, I meant chickenDALE, would go on the Tyra Banks show to conquer her fear of the stairs? Better yet, would you, oh geez, I meant chickenDALE, go on the Fear Factor TV show and go down the stairs for 50 thousand dog treats?

I'm with the others. I'd like to see chickenDALE's mom carry all 64 pounds of chickenDALE down the stairs.

  21. Aww, poor chickenDale! I hope she gets over it soon, it sure isn't fun being scared! Maybe you can show her how to go down the stairs, like the superDale you are!!
